Suvey on a new genetic study of autism
Investigators at Mount Sinai Medical Center are collaborating with Indiana University and other sites to begin a large study of the genetics of autism. We would like to know whether you and your family would be interested in participating in such a study. It would not cost you anything and it would provide genetic information about participating family members to your doctor. This information may be helpful to your doctor now and in the future to understand more about the type of autism you/your family member has. For some participants, the information may be helpful in understanding whether relatives are at risk for a similar condition.

As the study goes on, the genetic samples may provide information about preferred treatment as well. Participation in the research study under development would involve filling out an online questionnaire and submission of the participant's genetic material (i.e. DNA) from a swab of the inside of the cheek. We would send you a kit free of charge that includes a cheek swab along with instructions on how to use it. Information from the study would be shared with your doctor.

Survey questions
We would like to know if you would be interested in participating in this type of research. To do that, we have created an anonymous survey. The survey asks you to select the state you live in and answer some brief "yes/no" questions. No identifying questions will be asked. Response to these questions may help us design the research study. Thank you for participating!
